Educational point
Identify the mass requirements that apply to each heavy vehicle and communicate this to relevant staff, including loaders and drivers. Provide relevant staff the means to weigh or verify the weight of loads on heavy vehicles (e.g. on-board scales or portable scales). Ensure weighing devices are installed on all heavy vehicles and are functioning correctly. Ensure that all relevant staff are trained in mass requirements. Ensure that all staff complete regular refresher courses in mass requirements. Hold regular meetings, including Toolbox Talks, with staff. Ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date, and that all relevant staff are familiar with the policies and procedures. Prepare and provide pre-start trip inspection checklists that include mass checklists.
As reported by NHVR.
